M-I-Crooked Letter-Crooked Letter-I-Crooked...
CROOKED LETTER, CROOKED LETTER BY Tom Franklin is the latest book that I’ve been recommending to everyone.  The title is from the verse that children learned to remember how to spell Mississippi.  It is a southern mystery where the mystery is secondary to the real story of two men, one black and one white, who find their long friendship complicated by secrets and misunderstanding.  The...

Dutch Tree Windmills
An awesome design for tree-like windmills in the Netherlands.  Leave it to the Dutch to create such a clever, beautiful, eco-friendly idea for power generation. Commissioned by the Dutch government to develop a less intrusive windmill for the flat Dutch landscape, this proposed windmill uses an organic branching design that can hold up to 8 turbines and grow as tall as 120 meters.

My newest favorite blog:  animalreview.wordpress.com.  A highly biased, hilarious and frequently accurate report card on Nature’s creations that walk, fly & swim.  For example:  We can all feel good about the King Cobra.  That is an A+ animal. Think about it—-you don’t want to be the person who gives it an A-.  But what about the hippo?  Sure, it’s bald, wrinkly and...

Got rear-ended by a guy with no license, no insurance, knowing no English and who tried to leave the scene. Gotta love living in the city.

Goodbye to an old friend
I read about the death of Gourmet with a real feeling of regret.  Many a November issue has inspired me to create some different and wonderful Thanksgiving meals.  And every December finds me perusing my back issues for decadent and exotic sweets to include in my holiday gift boxes.  Even as I am writing this, I am waiting for my first loaf of sourdough bread to come out of the oven….the...

A new artist at Grigoropoulos, Ltd.
Grigoropoulos, Ltd. is now representing the artwork of Corrine Smith.  Her paintings on canvas combine organic forms with geometric shapes in bold colorations.  We are excited because she is willing to create her paintings in custom sizes and color palettes.  Ah, the possibilities!  Think of a series of small (18” x 18”) canvases hung in a row at eye level, either over a sofa or...
